Session Description
Job shortages in Health Care are here and they are real. Addressing the pinch points for continuing to provide MLS students with robust and quality Clinical Training paths involves complex strategies and collaboration—and Simulation is an integral part of this. In this session, Tammy Hardie, the MLS Simulation Coordinator at BCIT, will share some of her experiences in facing this challenge head-on with creativity and resourcefulness. She will provide guidance in accessing open sourced resources that are available to anyone, demonstrate how the Education Electronic Health Record/Lab Information System can be used to support student learning for interpreting and reporting laboratory results, and share with you the trials and tribulations of Simulation Activity development from low fidelity experiences to high fidelity ones. She will discuss a variety of inter-disciplinary simulation initiatives, and present strategies for helping to alleviate some of this pressure in our MLS programs across Canada. Sim-Thing’s Happening in MLS Education and it’s time to climb aboard this train of thought and collaborate with one another!
